Meeting Opened: Welcome by Michael Callaghan (President).

President’s Report: Michael Callaghan
Liability Insurance: Legal advice has been obtained from Talisha Fishburn (Barrister).
Regular member are free of any liability.
Regular members that organise regular rides with other members are also free of any liability.
Committee members are also liability free if acting prudently & ‘in good faith, however looking into & then not obtaining insurance coverage may be seen as a failure to act prudently. That said the Barrister has recommended the club takes out liability and association insurance.
The committee has been working hard in the background researching the available options of insurance.
Motorcycling NSW – Prohibitively expensive & their services didn’t really fit out type activities. (More aimed at motorsport activities)
Community Underwriting – They declined as their organisation doesn’t focus of motoring clubs.
Gallagher’s – This brokerage failed to provide a quote.
Marsh – This broker offered a policy from SLE (A division of CHUBB) which covered our needs. Broken Hill, Kiama & Velocette clubs use this policy,
The policy offers: $20 Million of public liability cover & Association insurance. $5000.00 Excess if a claim is made.
The negative to taking out this cover is the annual membership fee will need to be increased to $50.00 to ensure the club accounts have the funds to cover the additional costs.
If we agree to implement the insurance we should be back to normal with organised rides
Vote was put to attending members
Yes vote: 41 Hands
No vote: 0 hands
It is agreed unanimously to take out the insurance coverage.
Additional to the insurance coverage the Barrister recommended the following items to reduce liability exposure:
Appoint a safety officer. Paul Rudenrys has agreed to take on this role within the club committee until the next AGM. A safety officer will then be elected at the next AGM.
Waivers for membership and noted on the web site.
Review process for incidents.
Adopt a ride ‘Code of conduct’ for rides will be added.
Ride code of conduct recommendations from Barrister:
All riders are expected to ride within their capabilities and obey road rules.
Mandatory briefing for group rides.
Nominate lead and tail riders. Where possible to have had first aid training
If possible, have the route pre ridden to identify hazards.
Rest breaks at least every 90 minutes.
Less experienced riders should be looked after by more experienced riders.
Minimum protective gear consisting of approved helmet, gloves, jacket & boots to be worn.
There is zero tolerance for riding while intoxicated by alcohol or non-prescribed drugs.
Christmas party
The Christmas party has been booked at Moss Vale Ex-Services Club for the 7th December. $10 deposit to reserve your spot. Committee needs your payment no later than the 17th of November as we need to know numbers to organise the food. Originally, we said the $10 deposit will get you a free beer but due to the latest insurance issues we need to remove that opportunity. If you have an issue with this change Michael will be more than happy to buy you a beer with his own money on the day.
Payment can be made after the meeting. Please see Rob Hanna. Cash or card is available.
Otherwise EFT is also available: BSB 633000
