Thanks to everyone who attended last night’s meeting, it was nice to be back having missed last month’s meeting due to an unfortunate sojourn on a tropical island in the South Pacific. Really, I’d have much rather been here enjoying 11 degree drizzly days than having to endure day after day of perfect 27 degree temperatures and bright sunshine. (Cough cough bullshit)
Anyway, next big event is the Memorial Ride set for Sunday 14th September starting with coffee on the club at Werai Farm Club at 9:30 for 10:30 departure for a ride to Avon Dam and a sausage sizzle where again the club will supply the catering.
The Christmas Party was briefly discussed, it’s proposed to have a ride out to Bundanoon and have a sit down lunch at the Bundanoon Chinese. They have space for 50 people which should be ample as the last few Christmas parties have had attendance in the low forties. It’s not set in stone yet so if anyone has a better idea please let me know in the next couple of weeks with details of idea, venue and costings. We have a couple of barbies planned with the memorial ride and a charity ride in November so the committee thought it would be nice to do something different.
There was talk about advertising bikes for sale, there is a space on the website but it doesn’t get a lot of traffic, feel free to put up something on the club email and club Facebook page. Similarly if you want to organise a ride out feel free to do the same, the email system and Facebook page are both there for the benefit of everyone.
Paul Riley discussed his planned track day on Friday 19 September at One Raceway outside Goulburn, as mentioned in emails last week. If you want to go contact him in the next couple of weeks to arrange a booking and payment he’ll be able to get you in at a discounted rate. Requirements are outlined here, but basically you need leathers, boots gloves and helmet and a bike in roadworthy condition.https://www.oneraceway.com.au/events/1r-ride-day-19th-september-2025#event-eligibility
And it’s with some measure of satisfaction and relief that I can announce that Mick Lendrum has an adequate amount of vests. Tony Moses however has a surfeit and it was agreed that he can donate a number to the Bowral men’s shed leaving us with 16 vests between Tony and Mick, a number that should be more than adequate. The matter of vests can now be considered settled, and it was generally agreed at the meeting that we shall never speak of this again.
