So a new year has rolled around and in it’s honour we decided to forgo a formal meeting this month and just meet for drinks last Monday evening, and a fine convivial time was had by all.
But in the background the tireless committee have been toiling away regardless, and so there’s still news to pass on.
This Sunday 18 January we’ll have a ride to Flamin’ Galah brewery in Huskisson with lunch from the food truck there. We’ll be going via Nerriga and then back via Kangaroo Valley. Departure will be 10:00am from the clock in Moss Vale
The Sunday Coffee Ride on 1 February will be a bit longer than usual with Minamurra set as a destination, going via Jamberoo.
The usual Thursday rides are on tomorrow the 15th and Thursday 29th January, and Mick Lendrum’s excellent imperial tour is on Wednesday 28 January.
Looking further ahead I’m still going to the Snowy Mountains on the Friday 20 February to Sunday 22 February as detailed in the last president’s report and follow up email. At this stage it looks like there will be one rider counting me, it’s shaping up to be like the Sunday rides of old. Accommodation is book it yourself, in Corryong I am staying at the Mountain View Hotel at Paul Riley's recommendation, you can book at: https://betaibe12.rmscloud.com/13783/1 or you can stay at the Corryong Hotel/Motel where we'll have dinner anyway, it's about 300m up the road: https://www.corryonghotelmotel.com.au/accommodation/ In Cobargo all the cool kids stay at the Cobargo Hotel, I've booked a studio room like I stayed in last October, pretty compact but only $95 a night: https://book-directonline.com/properties/cobargohotel?locale=en&items[0][adults]=1&items[0][children]=0&items[0][infants]=0&items[0][rateId]=635862¤cy=AUD&checkInDate=2026-02-21&checkOutDate=2026-02-22&trackPage=yes&selected=0
If that ride is out then I’m looking at an overnight ride to Rylstone on Friday May 1 and Saturday May 2, going via Bathurst and Sofala then home via Capertee Valley and Oberon, both days should be around 350km
If rides away aren’t your thing we plan to do Christmas in July in April again on Sunday 19th April, we’ll have a ride ending at Werai Country Club for coffee and a pie.
We are also considering hiring Picton go cart track for a day of rider training, Paul Riley has generously volunteered to lend us his expertise in providing the training. We were thinking perhaps in June, and we’ll be looking for expressions of interest next meeting.
Next club meeting will be Monday 9 February, see you all there.
Cheers
Michael Callaghan
