President's Report – March 2024

Updated: Apr 13

Thanks to everyone attending last night’s meeting, there wasn’t a lot to cover so we had time to hear about some recent purchases and restoration projects.

The club is putting on a breakfast ride on Sunday 6 April starting from the clock in Moss Vale at 8:30am and ending 45mins to an hour later at Schmokin’ with a FREE coffee and roll like at the Christmas party last year. Pillions will also be catered for and are encouraged to attend to help cut through the seething mass of testosterone that characterises most gatherings of the hard men. Be aware this is the end of daylight savings so you get a sleep in.

The first aid course has been booked for Sunday 15th June starting at 10am at the Moss Vale services club, we’ve yet to be sent an invoice by First Aid For Motorcyclists to fully lock it in but they should succumb to my nagging and send it in the next few days. Numbers are capped at 25, we’ll get attendees to contribute $45 to the cost of running the event, the club will pick up the rest of the tab. Final details (I hope) at next months meeting.

Club membership fees are now due and should be paid by the end of the month. If you haven’t received an invoice please get in touch with either Rob Hanna or myself and we’ll correct this. If you are not paid up by the end of the month you are NOT a financial member of the club and any bikes you have on club plates are NOT REGISTERED. If you ride them you are riding an unregistered vehicle.  Any members that haven’t paid within three months will be removed from the club register altogether and will have to reapply to join. So there.

There was another big response in the return of club vests with one being found at Kevin's place this month, but he didn’t bring it with him to the meeting. He vows he will hand it over soon. Karen has donated a box of vests but unfortunately no big sizes, so only skinny riders can wear vests on SHIT rides.

Kevin Roberts has approached Harbison nursing home about his old bikes for old blokes rides, and Tony Moses has approached Anthem, both have expressed enthusiasm for the idea but the higher ups at both establishments have yet to make contact to firm up plans. I suspect they have seen “The Wild One” and expect a repeat of the Hollister Riots, after all Kevin bears a remarkable resemblance to Lee Marvin, and Tony looks just like Brando in his prime.

Our esteemed webmaster Richard suddenly got married since the last meeting. In an unrelated development he is selling his R1200RT($6000), his Guzzi V85TT Travel ($16000) and his tricycle, sorry, Spyder ($11000). In fairness he is selling them to fund a new R1250RT, not because of spousal pressure. He claims. Either way they seem very keenly priced to me.

And finally I forgot to mention at the meeting a big thank you to Comrade Colin Simski who stopped to help me when my Ural suffered a minor mechanical issue caused by a failed component no doubt made by some western influenced Trotskyite bent on thwarting the glory of finest Soviet Socialist motorcycle.
