President's Notice – AGM

As you are all aware and anticipating the next club meeting on Monday is the AGM.

At the AGM, the current committee is dissolved and all committee positions are up for election.

At this stage the current Treasurer and Secretary have indicated that they will not stand for re election. Therefore I'd like you to consider taking up one of these positions. Neither are particularly onerous.

The Secretary takes the minutes at the meeting, types them up and publishes them, and checks the club's mail box for correspondence once or twice a month. The Treasurer has access to our bank account, keeps a record of in-goings and out-goings and countersigns any bank transfers thus keeping our power mad spendthrift President in check.

Both positions require attendance at the monthly club meetings where you get to sit at the big table and look wise and give a thirty second report. On the Tuesday afternoon before the meeting we have a committee meeting where we discuss general club running, plan events and drink beer, it lasts generally about one beer.

Overall time committment on top of the normal club meeting would only be a couple of hours a month. Both current office bearers are staying in the club and I'm sure would be happy to provide some guidance to get you started.

So please consider sticking your hand up for election, it's kinda fun and you get to make a contribution to the running of the club.
